"The Monsoon Bowl" | NFL Classic Game Highlights

On September 25th, 2011, the Jaguars and Panthers participated in one of the craziest weather games in NFL history. There were no delays in this game because rain was the only problem. Rain poured down for most of the game, starting in the second quarter and eventually flooding the field and stands. Enjoy the highlights from this game.

  • The field held up remarkable well. I seen games way back in the day where the field was a mud pit and you couldn't see the yard-markers.

  • There was only a 20% chance of rain, but when the rain showed up, it made it count.

Despite the weather, Blaine Gabbert performed only slightly worse than his normal "stinks on ice."

  • I was at this game. Cam's first win as a pro. I was sitting in the upper level and around the end of the first quarter you could see the storm way off slowly moving closer. It was so hot, I thought a little rain would be welcome. Well, once the rain got to the stadium it was relentless as you can see. The water on the sidelines looked to be 2 feet deep. Even the interior of the stadium where the concessions are had about a foot of standing water. And of course the chance of rain was so slight I didn't bring a poncho. Stayed for the whole game.
