  • Jonny Mnemonic actually started out as a short story by William Gibson. The game was released around the same time as the movie but really both the movie and the game are essentially two separate adaptations of the same story and can be enjoyed separately if one desires. Though both seem to be pretty similar in tone and bad acting. 🙂

  • Yeah, man, back then it was a struggle to play some games. I mean, they weren't spoon-fed to you, not by a long-mile. I clearly remember an obscure game, kinda like this one, Quantum Gate. Doesn't get much traction these days and it's mostly buried, but I remember randomly clicking on things and getting excited when stuff was happening (I was pretty young, yes); I would love for you to take a look on that if you can manage a copy; or on the Sierra published Urban Runner; wow, what a game that was. Maybe even Maabus? GK2 for sure – now, that's a classic. Cheers, AGG!

  • The original story was crap, the movie was a whole bowl of unflushed feces and holy fuck this game was the leftover sticking to rim that you can't flush. Yes, I played it back in 1995 for all of 10 mins before uninstalling it.

  • I have to admit the game has a steep learning curve and the controls leave something to be desired but I really liked this game. I just wish someone would post up a complete walkthrough. I never could find Johnny’s memories

  • Was the "Hi, I'm Pretty" thing supposed to be a SNL reference? "Good evening, I'm Chevy Chase . . . and you're not." That just seems like such a random reference to throw in there. Then again, this game seems pretty random, so maybe it all makes sense.

  • Well done for beating this thing. The game seriously suffers from two of the worst issues that the mid 90s FMV games (and to an extent adventure games in general) had – the programmers intentionally making the game unnecessarily cryptic or incoherent and controls broken to artificially extend the play time. With in-game indicators that hint at what you're suppose to be doing half the time and functional fighting controls that actually work as well as they claim they should, most people could beat the game in an hour or two. Since only die hard Mnemonic or FMV fans would actually be willing to stick with the game and eventually beat it, no wonder it fell into total obscurity as soon as it came out.. By the way, the subway hobo looks like Crispin Glover on hard drugs and the VR world host looks like John Leader, one of the more lovable 90s trailer narrators for kids movies and one of the stars of the 90s trailer narration extravaganza 5 Guys in a Limo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQRtuxdfQHw

  • Does the new Black mirror game have anything to do with the old ones? The description is so confusing….. I love fmv games but most of them aren't really good. Or as bad that it is good again. And your kitty doesn't seem to be happy to appear in the video. =(

  • Excellent as always. I was just thinking today at work, I wonder when AGG is going to release a new episode. One step closer to Harvester.

  • I think the "psychological effect" they tried to achieve with this kind of gameplay is to make one keep randomly pressing keys until the point they cant distinguish what is a movie and what he is really controlling… so, they could play a 5 minutes video and the player would think he is actually playing something hahaha

  • Reminds me of Burn cycle, the CDI game from 1994 (predates the mnemomic movie, but not the novel of course).
